Beaulieu National Motor Museum
Beaulieu National Motor Museum, based in the New Forest, Hampshire, is one of the finest motor museums in England and quite possibly in Europe.
The museum was founded in 1952 by Lord Montagu of Beaulieu, a passionate motoring enthusiast and former racing driver. He began collecting cars in the early 1930s, and by the time the museum opened, he had amassed a collection of over 100 vehicles.
The Montagu family has for several generations curated the museum which houses a vast collection of vehicles, some owned by the family and others loaned to the museum for posterity.
Additionally, the museum maintains the historic fabric of motoring from the earliest road-going vehicles to specialist modern-day examples, including some famous cars from historical events and movies.
The collection is housed over several floors and buildings which all interconnect so you can spend a whole day there and not even venture outside unless you wish to visit the magnificent stately house and gardens.
A monorail travels the perimeter of the grounds and even comes through the museum so that you can view the displays from above.
The National Motor Museum is also heavily involved in the restoration and conservation of rare vehicles and motoring items to ensure that the nation can benefit from them in the future.
